The question posed to leading Republicans and conservatives is what’s worth ignoring and what shouldn’t be tolerated. I thought we were the party of common sense, but after last week, I’m not so sure. Racial slurs, antisemitism, and jokes about throwing people in gas chambers are universally terrible, so why are we having this debate?
Politico broke the story about a “leaked” Young Republicans group chat, and it’s concerning. The messages themselves bother me less than the response, which is why I have some thoughts to share.
