“People should not be afraid of their governments. Governments should be afraid of their people.”
I am choosing to believe it is no coincidence that this election day falls on the 5th of November, a day marked by rebellion and revolution. You have a choice as an American citizen. You can sit on your butt and waste the blood, sweat, and tears that were shed for your right to vote or you can honor their sacrifice and get to the polls. This is America: the greatest nation in the world and the beacon of hope for billions. What we do today affects not just us, but also the rest of the world. This isn’t a burden to carry, it’s a blessing bestowed upon us by God and we shouldn’t take this gift lightly.
Get up, vote, and say a prayer. It’s going to be a long day.
That line has been wandering around my head the last month or so. If you're not familiar with it, the rhyme commemorates a plot in 1605 to blow up Parliament in the UK.
"Remember, remember!
The fifth of November,
The Gunpowder treason and plot;
I know of no reason
Why the Gunpowder treason
Should ever be forgot!"
Vote and pray, my fellow Americans.
Praying and trusting! ❤️🤍💙
