, “The Constitution does not confer a right to abortion; Roe and Casey are overruled; the authority to regulate abortion is returned to the people and their elected representatives.”

Jackson Women’s Health Organization (JWHO) challenged a law passed by the state of Mississippi banning abortions after fifteen weeks and won rulings in both the district court and the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals. The state of Mississippi appealed to the Supreme Court, which took the case and they heard arguments on December 1, 2021. On June 24, 2022, the courts ruled in Dobbs v. Jackson in favor of Mississippi, effectively overturning both Roe v. Wade and Casey v. Planned Parenthood How did a challenge to a fifteen-week ban result in overturning Roe v. Wade?
